When everyone was moved out of the apartment buildings on my street and they were left abandoned, I was worried about my friend, the awesome kid I met whose drawings inspired me to paint one of the older abandoned, and now demolished, buildings on the street a few months before.
He lived in one of the buildings where everyone was recently evicted from. When I checked to see how his family was doing, he said they were doing fine and then suggested I paint a black hole and he paint some colorful trees - which couldn't be more perfect images to paint here! .
Nothing can escape the gravity of a black hole and we don't know what happens on the other side for everything that goes through it - what happens to the vibrant communities that get swallowed up for "progress", especially when they're the ones that made the area beautiful and grow?
